We didn’t deliver – Jurgen Klopp has no issue with Mohamed Salah venting spleen

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits his side failed to live up to expectations this season and has no issue with Mohamed Salah saying the team let down fans.

Writing on social media after Manchester United’s win over Chelsea on Thursday night consigned Liverpool to Europa League football, the Egypt international said he was “devastated” and there was “absolutely no excuse” for not making the top four.

Klopp had already resigned himself to not playing Champions League next season and admits he even thought fifth place was out of reach prior to their current 10-match unbeaten run, which includes seven victories.

I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and…

Terry hopeful over Chelsea future

Chelsea captain John Terry remains very hopeful he can extend his stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

The 35-year-old s future remains unclear after he said he would leave his boyhood club following the 2015-16 campaign, only for Chelsea to say they were open to offering him a new deal.

Terry said his desire was to stay at Stamford Bridge, but he is willing to look elsewhere if no offer is forthcoming.

I m very hopeful, he said.

I ve been there 21 years and I ll never kind of give up until it finally happens. But, who knows?

I ve still got a lot to give, whether that s here [Chelsea] or somewhere else, for sure.

Terry was full of praise for interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, who has suffered just one loss in 15 games sinc…

Drinkwater: Daft to say Leicester can´t win Champions League

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater is keen for the Premier League champions to prove people wrong all over again on their Champions League debut.

Claudio Ranieri s men face Club Brugge on Wednesday hoping to recapture their title-winning form from last season, having gone down to a 4-1 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.

Drinkwater believes Leicester now find themselves in familiar territory and thinks it would be foolish to rule out another astonishing tilt at silverwear.

We don t want it to be the first and last time we are in the Champions League, he said.

We are going to look to show them what we are made of.

I d be daft if I said we can t win it. I think everybody would have thought we couldn t win the Premier League and we did it.

Emre hits out at Allardyce´s style… and slams his chewing gum

Sam Allardyce has been criticised by Emre Belozoglu, who says the scandal which led to the manager s England exit came as no surprise to him after their time at Newcastle United.

The 62-year-old s reign in charge of the national team came to an abrupt end in September after just 67 days.

The position of the former Bolton boss became untenable following an undercover newspaper investigation, which alleged he had suggested there was a way to circumvent the Football Association s rules governing the transfer of players under third-party ownership.

Allardyce was Emre s manager at Newcastle between May 2007 and January 2008, but did not leave a favourable impression on the ex-Turkey international, who now plays for Istanbul Basaksehir.

I was surprised when he…

Maguire and Solskjaer question validity of West Brom opener

Harry Maguire and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were left confused as to why West Brom s opener in Manchester United s 1-1 draw on Sunday was allowed to stand after an apparent foul.

United dropped points for the fourth time in five Premier League games, as the Red Devils were unable to make the most of their dominance at The Hawthorns.

Bruno Fernandes got United s goal on the stroke of half-time, taking him to 38 goal involvements for the club in as many league games, a record bettered by only Andy Cole (46) in his first 38 Premier League games.

But United failed to build on that as they struggled to break West Brom s packed defence down, meaning Mbaye Diagne s early goal consigned them to another disappointing result.

But there was more than a hint of controvers…

LAFC cruised to the Supporters Shield title this year but had not previously beaten Galaxy in five attempts coming into a crunch MLS playoff on Thursday.
